The ZZ385 is a ZZ4 engine with the Fastburn heads instead of the L98 Vette aluminums heads. The ZZ4 is rated at 355hp and the ZZ385 at 385 hp, but the Fastburns hurt the torque a bit. The Fastburn heads use the Vortec truck intake patterm, these heads would fit my Marine intake wonderfully. Heck I would even throw in the LT4 Hotcam for fun.

    Apr 04, 2011 · Going to Vortec heads and a roller cam in a sbc one piece seal block. I have seen multiple ZZ4 cams for sale/ new take outs..474/.510 int./exh. lift 208/221 duration. Would it be possible to run a 1.6 ratio rocker on the intake valve and a 1.5 ratio rocker on the exhaust, thereby creating a .505 int./.510 exh. cam? (by my calcuation)

    This hydraulic roller tappet is used on the 350 ZZ3 & ZZ4 engines. The duration at lash point in degrees (intake/exhaust) is 275/280 . Duration at .050" tappet lift (intake/exhaust) is 208/221. Maximum lift with 1.5:1 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 474/510. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe centerline is 112 degrees. Lifters not included.

    The ZZ4 has D-Port cylinder heads and angle spark plugs. Although the original cast exhaust manifolds will bolt on and will work fine, the manifold openings should be ground on the top sides to match the ports on the heads. The angle plugs make for a bit of a challenge but there is sufficient clearance with the original manifolds.

Thanks hutch. And good news, I just chatted with "Winston" from technical support of Summit. He said Doug's D356 will work on the fast burn heads D port of a ZZ4/ZZ383. Doug's D356 Cylinder Head Port Shape say Oval and Doug's D353 say SAP.

Sep 11, 2014 · The L98 Corvette heads are the Pre-Vortec HP SB 350 Heads . They were used on 1986 to 1991 L98 TPI 350 Corvette and on 350 HO ZZ3 AND ZZ4 crate engines . Casting # 14101128 was on the 1986 to 1987 and had the heat riser passage . The Casting #10088113 is the 1988 to 1991 heads .
You need 72cc chamber heads not the 64cc chamber heads on your ZZ4. Then a blown 383 can work. If you are the Christmas brothers they managed to put a 66 elcamino with a blown 383 in to the 13's While I do low 11's with a somewhat mild 350 NA.
